On Saturday, April 19, G2HARDCORE talked about the difficult and controversial subjects regarding comic books, comic book fandom and the comic book industry:

Why do some males threaten violence towards females when they express an opinion? Especially on the internet and especially about comic books.

Why fans should keep the pressure on Jim Lee to finish SUPERMAN UNCHAINED?  Don’t let history repeat itself.

MAY!  The month of shuffling storylines, timelines and comic book release dates.

Superman fans, are you mourning the cancellation of Adventures of Superman series?

The time jump in Fauxmance #7.  What could it mean?

Why can’t DC Comics with all its experience accomplish a major event in the new 52?

Join Tej and Holli for this marathon show.  Available on iTunes and talkshoe.

Print and Digital covers in SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 #1 print

G2FACTOR is very excited!  On Wednesday, May 2nd,  Smallville Season 11 #3 topped the digital comics charts as best selling comic (revenue and downloads).  THIS IS A BIG DEAL!  No comic has rocked the digital comics world like this series.  Also, May 2nd is the day that Smallville Season 11 #1 print hits the comic shops (local or web).  We’re hoping Smallville and/or Superman fans show their love for this series in the print competition.

The digital series also had issue 2 as #7th and issue #1 in #34th.  It appears that Smallville Season 11 is clearing the way for other Superman digital stories.  Superman #8 (a print first) grabbed the 10th spot and Superman Beyond #2 took the 29th spot.  That’s 5 Superman books in the top 34 best selling digital comics for this week.  (SS11 #3 hasn’t been out a week yet)

Buy Smallville Season 11 #1 print on Wednesday, May 2nd.  This is a monthly book, but you don’t want them to sell out before you get yours.  If you have it on your pull list, buy another to mint the print.

Consider purchasing Superman Beyond #3 available also on May 2nd.  It’s another digital first.

Buy Smallville Season 11 #4 digital first on Friday, May 18th.

Saturday, May 5th, is Free Comic Book Day.  Superman Family Adventures will have 5 preview pages in the DC free offer.  Support this book also.

Sunday, May 6th, join us on G2Factor for all the great Superman stories, events and news this week.  5pm EDT/4pm CDT.  Live chat and streaming.  Downloads on iTunes and talkshoe.

Go spread the Superman love!

SUNDAY!!!  April 29th 5pm EDT/4pmCDT, G2Factor will talk about SUPERMAN!  (not a big surprise)  The new 52 version in Superman #8 and also in Smallville Season 11 #3, which we and others have dubbed the REAL Superman.

Be sure to purchase and download your Smallville Season 11 Chapter 3 digital Friday, April 27th.  Comixology has been releasing the digital-first comic between 9:30 am to 10:00 am EDT.   Also, please rate this comic.  Even though Comixology has not perfected its rating system, we still have to give it the Superman try.  If you are unable to rate it on Comixology, rate it through your app or the DC Comics digital comics website (it all goes back to Comixology — or should).

Possession seems to be the theme of the new 52 Superman book.  We’ll explore how this may effect our hero in the months to come.   And we are all anxiously awaiting the new love interest so it can be over and done with.  More Lois, please.

Patty Spivot is definitely not doing the Flash book any favors.  It’s nosediving heavily every month (along with Action).  While Aquaman with his wife, Mera,  lose the least amount each month and have gained a critical and enthusiastic following.  Think upon that, DC Comics.

Here’s something else to think about, DC Comics:

Smallville Season 11 #2 exceeded its first issue in revenue sales (which was #1 count wise for six days or more, we don’t know), beating out all digital books DC had to offer.  That means it was selling more than 4 to 1 (it has 99 cent price point).  Issue #1 was still in the top 15 of revenue sales this past week.  Isn’t it time DC Comics reported some digital numbers?  Start bragging about this phenomena!  Encourage the digital savvy fans of their books!  DC wanted digital; Smallville Season 11 and its fans are BRINGING IT!

Smallville and Superman fans:

Your mission will be to have Smallville Season 11 #3 wipe out all the competition, no matter what the price point.  How is that possible with one digital account?   You tell other fans of Smallville and the REAL Superman about this wonderful book by Bryan Q. Miller and Pere Perez.  Get them to purchase Smallville Season 11 digital first.  Fanboys who snicker at Smallville, you really are missing out.  This is a STRONG and VIBRANT Superman story.  It will make you BELIEVE again.  It will bring back the joy of comics.  Remember that?

Other versions of Superman were doing well digitally this past week:

Superman Beyond #1 (a 99 cent digital-first) was in the top 10 of  Top Paid digital comics.  Its first issue was introduced on April 18th.  Its print predecessor Superman Beyond #0 was published late last summer before the new 52.  It also was on the digital Top Paid charts.  This is the story of older Superman who is a widower.  Lois has been mentioned in #0 and #1.

Superman Batman digitals also were on the top DC Top Paid chart.  They are $1.99 with annuals selling for $2.99.  This is a great series by some of today’s greatest writers.   G2Factor cannot recommend this book enough.  Take it everywhere you go.

With Superman doing so well digitally (and not same day as print), does this mean that people are STARVED for the Superman they all know and love and not the 52 version?  Something else for DC Editorial to think about.

. . . is not just any Comic Book Day.  It is SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 PRINT BOOK DAY!!!  Do you have your pull list ready?  Cash and credit cards ready?  This is the opportunity not only to have the tactile experience of reading a paper comic book, but also to see how this compilation sizes up with the ‘print boys’.  Numbers will definitely be released by Diamond the first week of June about May orders so get into those stores (web or local) and demand SMALLVILLE SEASON 11  #1 (Chapters 1-3) for $3.99.  You get the 3 chapters (30 to 36 pages of story) PLUS a Smallville episode guide.  That is definitely more bang for your buck than with other printed comics.

May 4th — Purchase and download Smallville Season 11 Chapter 4 digital first.

May 5th is Free Comic Book Day

This first Saturday is May will give you free comic books at your comic book shop.  DC Comics has Justice League on the cover and will tell a bit more about the Where’s Waldo character, Pandora, and how she is going to screw up the new 52 further.  We’re pretty excited about seeing the Superman Family Adventures preview pages in print.  Go and explore!

Join us this Sunday as we talk about Smallville, Superman, Lois Lane, DC Comics, and other topics.

SUNDAY, APRIL 15th at 5 pm EDT/4pm CDT, G2FACTOR is sooo excited and happy to be discussing SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 DIGITAL-FIRST’s premiere story titled GUARDIAN.  Bryan Q. Miller (writer and story editor on Smallville tv series) will be scripting this very anticipated series.  Pere Perez, who worked with Bryan on the Stephanie Brown Batgirl comic, will be doing the interior pencils for the book.  Cat Staggs will be the artist for the digital covers and will be doing some of the print covers.  She’s definitely captured Tom Welling’s likeness for this first installment.

THIS IS A WEEKLY COMIC, digitally.  Then several digital issues will be compiled into a MONTHLY print book.  Bryan has stated that  12 weeks of digitals would comprise an ‘episode’ or story arc.  With that in mind, we’ll call this first digital issue, Smallville Season 11 1.01.

BE SURE TO PURCHASE AND DOWNLOAD YOUR DIGITAL BOOK ON FRIDAY, APRIL 13TH.  Available through your DC Comic app or Comixology app on your devices or by going to the DC Comic website or Comixology website.

IMPORTANT!  If you’re interested in the print books (and we recommend getting both versions if possible), please inform your local comic book shop because they are NOW ordering their books for May and Smallville Season 11 first print book is due out May 2nd.  Start a pull list that way the shop can set aside the issues you want — and you might get a discount, too.  Check their policy for pull list benefits.

We cannot stress enough how important it is that this book be successful.  For Superman fans who are disappointed with the new 52 version, give Smallville Season 11 a try.  Bryan will have a lot more freedom with the storytelling since the product is not dependent on actors’ contracts, network sensibilities, and sponsor influence.  Smallville Season 11 may be the Superman you’ve been looking for.  Who would have thought, right?

SMALLVILLE FANS:  BE SURE TO TALK SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 COMIC TO EVERYONE.  You never know when you’ll bump into a closet Smallville fan who has lost their fix.

Can you tell we’re excited about this book?  We’re so happy there are people who LOVE Superman working on the series.

NOW FOR SOME GRIMMER NEWS: (Yea, the new 52)

Also on the roster for Sunday, we will mention Action #8, the end of the premiere story arc by Morrison and Morales.  Oh, yea and three other artists just in this issue.  (Yes, I’m shaking my head.)   We’ve seen Morrison apologists blaming Rags Morales’ incapacity to keep up with the work for Morrison’s non linear storytelling.  Minion are like that, yes they are.

We’ll be discussing whether or not we’ll continue this book or not.  Next issue will not be the new 52 Earth’s Superman, but one of Morrison’s multiversity Supermen.   And there was dissatisfaction with this book with every issue so it’s a valid debate.  Future synopses give us pause with a dead Clark Kent and Superman getting a new secret identity.  We concede this could very well be comparable to the CW’s odious OD’s, but if we have learned anything — if it’s the new 52, it’s only going to get worse.  No Clark Kent in the comics was done for three years in the World of New Krypton and Grounded series, not to mention the Lex Luthor/Lois-is-a-cyborg Action series.  So that’s boring and makes us believe that DC either doesn’t understand Superman (and the importance of his dual identity) or DC Comics is systematically diminishing Superman’s role within the universe — no matter what it is called.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if the property that gave us a blue jeans, work boots, t-shirt wearing Superman for 10 years (so who needs Morrison’s “I never watched it, but I know what Smallville is about” version?) was the saving grace for the character and its present universe/industry?  So go out and buy SMALLVILLE SEASON 11.  Whatcha waiting for?  Morrison to write a comprehensible story flow or translate his Kryptonese for us?  Or Morales to draw a pretty Clark Kent/Superman?  Save yourself the frustration.

Every week we will be reviewing the latest Smallville Season 11 digitally released the Friday before.  YAY!

Superman comic by Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgens to be released April 25th.  It appears Helspont has possessed Superman.  No mention of other characters in the PR synopsis.  Hopefully Superman can get Helspont to shut-the-fukk-up in this issue. Oy!

May 2nd is when Smallville Season 11 print version arrives.  So put it on your pull list now so it’ll be there for you then.

May 5th (Saturday) is Free Comic Book Day.  Pandora story will be featured in Justice League.  Also some Superman Family Adventures mentioned for this special book.

May 30th is Superman Family Adventures first issue release. Put that on your pull list, too!

June 7th Erica Durance’s (Smallville Lois Lane) Saving Hope will premiere on NBC.

June 7-10 is the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, IL.  So far we know George Perez will be there.  He wrote the premiere story arc for new 52 Superman.  The TPB of that will not be available until November. (Boo, DC, another fail.)  We’re excited about meeting him.

June 12th  Superman vs the Elite will be released on DVD.  Based on Joe Kelly’s Action #775, “What’s so Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?”  Can’t wait!

So come listen on live streaming or live chat room on talkshoe.  Downloads available on iTunes and talkshoe.

Hope to see you there!
