Where the Geek Girls Go

Sunday, October 28th at 5pmET/4pmCT G2Factor will discuss SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 #21 by Bryan Q. Miller and Superman #13 by Scott Lobdell.  Two very different Clark Kents and Supermen.

Smallville Season 11 should prove exciting as we’ll see what happens to a Kryptonite compromised Superman and how he survives with the help of Batman and the love of his life, Lois Lane.

Superman #13 gave us the first Clark Kent/Superman in Metropolis story by Scott Lobdell.  He plotted Superman Annual #1.  Is there a difference between the two Clarks in these two books, too?

Grant Morrison will be putting 5 years of story in Action #15 through #17.  Morrison stated there would be a death of Superman story involved in his last arc.

While watching Andy Diggle interviews during NYCC, found out this information:

“I very much want to balance the extremely epic, massive-scale action heroics with the human side of Kal-El and Clark Kent too. I would like to see him explored a little bit more. And I would like to see his relationship with Lois Lane explored a little bit more in the New 52.”

“I think that he feels a bit like a fish out of water, and I think Diana feels the same way, so to a degree, they feel like kindred spirits, which is not quite the same as his relationship with Lois.”

Black suit in Superman #0 appears in Action #18 and the H’El on Earth storyline between the superbooks spins into another crossover involving Action also.

This last clue is interesting as we saw this symbol in Superman #7:

It’s also significant that Helspont had an arc in the Superman book and told Clark in the Superman Annual #1, he knew Jor-El.  In Superman #0 we see Kal-El on Krypton (dressed in black) narrating the story of his parents and the discovery they were expecting him.  We saw the black suit again in Action #18 on Tony Daniel’s cover.   A Daemonite horn also appeared in Superman #0 as it did in Superman #1.  Helspont could be creating an alternate reality for Superman to exist in.

Could Superman, Supergirl, Superboy, and Action be going from H’El to Helspont?  Will this possible crossover lead to the bigger crossover in the Justice League, Justice League of America and possibly Justice League Dark known as the Trinity War?

Here’s the reason why we ask that question:

This appeared in the Justice League 6 backstory:

And more recently in the backstory of Justice League #13 the intro to Justice League of America:

So join us on Sunday as we talk about Superman in SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 and Superman #13.  Live chatroom and streaming available during show.  Downloads on  iTunes  and talkshoe.

SUNDAY, October 21st, 5pmET/4pmCT, G2Factor will sing the praises of Smallville Season 11 #20.  Our only regret, the cliffhanger showed up too soon.  Are you buying this digital-first comic book?  If not, why not?  It’s loads of fun, action, emotion and suspense.  It’s got the GD Batman!!!  And a badass Lois.  As well as THE BEST SUPERMAN IN THE DCU.

Other topics for this week:  Justice League #13 including the JLA preview backup story, the Superman #13 preview pages that were in Supergirl #13, new behind the scenes of the tenth season of Smallville’s ICARUS (thanks to Chris & A), and other Superman news.

While reading Wonder Woman #13 (Path of War), a new character appears in the Antarctic calling himself “First Born”.  Is there a connection to the Edgar Rice Burrough’s Barsoom (John Carter/Mars) series?   The Greek god, Ares, was named Mars in Rome.  Ares is the God of War and was prominent in Wonder Woman #0.  Superman is not mentioned in this series (which is fine with us) despite the bullship in Justice League affecting the Superman series (which is not so fine with us).

Tasha posted an article on Multipleverses’ Superman Fans for Lois Lane blog about Action #9.

Holli has Superman related op-ed pieces on her blog, Baudyhallee Blog of the Moment, found here.

Everyone will enjoy Kimmie’s and Chris’ reactions to the latest Smallville Season 11 installment.

Hope you’re joining us weekly as we explore the many worlds of Superman.  Live streaming and chat room available during the show.  Downloads on iTunes and talkshoe after the show.

Sunday, October 14th at 5pmEDT/4pmCDT, G2Factor will discuss the latest installment of SMALLVILLE SEASON 11, #19 of DETECTIVE.

Clark and Batman are trying to protect Joe Chill while fighting Prankster and Mr. Freeze.  Will we see Lois, Lex, and Otis?  Will Steph!Babs help save the day?  Can’t wait for my weekly fix of the REAL Superman in SMALLVILLE SEASON 11.

Also, we have TONS of New 52 news about Superman in his various storylines and books.  More news from NYCC such as Scott Snyder and Jim Lee are going to be involved with a yet-to-be-titled new Superman book.  Not sure why the secrecy.

Andy Diggle and Tony Daniels will be taking over Action Comics with #18 (March).  And will there be a new 52 version of A death of Superman?

Join us on talkshoe to hear the discussion.  Live chatroom and streaming during show.  Downloads available on iTunes and talkshoe after the show.

Sunday, October 7th at 5pmEDT/4pmCDT G2Factor will discuss the “A Boy and His Dog” story in Action #13.   No Rags art and a visit from the Phantom Stranger.  Morrison explains a bit about the wider story arc as Sholly pulls at our heart strings.

Also, in case you weren’t aware, our Tasha asked Matt Idelson a question on Supermanhomepage and got answered.  Read it for yourself and see what you think.  Our friends Rachel and Kelly also presented questions.

Superman is the only character in the new 52 that has to deal with his past and present being told at the same time in his own books.  Do you think this has been a disservice to the character and to the creators who have tried to dance around this 5 year gap challenge? Do you feel bludgeoned by the Powers That Be at DC Comics as a Superman fan?  How hopeful are you that you’ll get your Superman story back?

Don’t forget to pick up your print copy of SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 #6 at your local comics store.  Digital Smallville Season 11 will return on October 12th.

Hope to see you on Sunday.  Live streaming and chatroom available during show.  Downloads on iTunes and talkshoe after show.
