Where the Geek Girls Go

SUNDAY, APRIL 15th at 5 pm EDT/4pm CDT, G2FACTOR is sooo excited and happy to be discussing SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 DIGITAL-FIRST’s premiere story titled GUARDIAN.  Bryan Q. Miller (writer and story editor on Smallville tv series) will be scripting this very anticipated series.  Pere Perez, who worked with Bryan on the Stephanie Brown Batgirl comic, will be doing the interior pencils for the book.  Cat Staggs will be the artist for the digital covers and will be doing some of the print covers.  She’s definitely captured Tom Welling’s likeness for this first installment.

THIS IS A WEEKLY COMIC, digitally.  Then several digital issues will be compiled into a MONTHLY print book.  Bryan has stated that  12 weeks of digitals would comprise an ‘episode’ or story arc.  With that in mind, we’ll call this first digital issue, Smallville Season 11 1.01.

BE SURE TO PURCHASE AND DOWNLOAD YOUR DIGITAL BOOK ON FRIDAY, APRIL 13TH.  Available through your DC Comic app or Comixology app on your devices or by going to the DC Comic website or Comixology website.

IMPORTANT!  If you’re interested in the print books (and we recommend getting both versions if possible), please inform your local comic book shop because they are NOW ordering their books for May and Smallville Season 11 first print book is due out May 2nd.  Start a pull list that way the shop can set aside the issues you want — and you might get a discount, too.  Check their policy for pull list benefits.

We cannot stress enough how important it is that this book be successful.  For Superman fans who are disappointed with the new 52 version, give Smallville Season 11 a try.  Bryan will have a lot more freedom with the storytelling since the product is not dependent on actors’ contracts, network sensibilities, and sponsor influence.  Smallville Season 11 may be the Superman you’ve been looking for.  Who would have thought, right?

SMALLVILLE FANS:  BE SURE TO TALK SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 COMIC TO EVERYONE.  You never know when you’ll bump into a closet Smallville fan who has lost their fix.

Can you tell we’re excited about this book?  We’re so happy there are people who LOVE Superman working on the series.

NOW FOR SOME GRIMMER NEWS: (Yea, the new 52)

Also on the roster for Sunday, we will mention Action #8, the end of the premiere story arc by Morrison and Morales.  Oh, yea and three other artists just in this issue.  (Yes, I’m shaking my head.)   We’ve seen Morrison apologists blaming Rags Morales’ incapacity to keep up with the work for Morrison’s non linear storytelling.  Minion are like that, yes they are.

We’ll be discussing whether or not we’ll continue this book or not.  Next issue will not be the new 52 Earth’s Superman, but one of Morrison’s multiversity Supermen.   And there was dissatisfaction with this book with every issue so it’s a valid debate.  Future synopses give us pause with a dead Clark Kent and Superman getting a new secret identity.  We concede this could very well be comparable to the CW’s odious OD’s, but if we have learned anything — if it’s the new 52, it’s only going to get worse.  No Clark Kent in the comics was done for three years in the World of New Krypton and Grounded series, not to mention the Lex Luthor/Lois-is-a-cyborg Action series.  So that’s boring and makes us believe that DC either doesn’t understand Superman (and the importance of his dual identity) or DC Comics is systematically diminishing Superman’s role within the universe — no matter what it is called.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if the property that gave us a blue jeans, work boots, t-shirt wearing Superman for 10 years (so who needs Morrison’s “I never watched it, but I know what Smallville is about” version?) was the saving grace for the character and its present universe/industry?  So go out and buy SMALLVILLE SEASON 11.  Whatcha waiting for?  Morrison to write a comprehensible story flow or translate his Kryptonese for us?  Or Morales to draw a pretty Clark Kent/Superman?  Save yourself the frustration.

BETTER NEWS:

Every week we will be reviewing the latest Smallville Season 11 digitally released the Friday before.  YAY!

Superman comic by Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgens to be released April 25th.  It appears Helspont has possessed Superman.  No mention of other characters in the PR synopsis.  Hopefully Superman can get Helspont to shut-the-fukk-up in this issue. Oy!

May 2nd is when Smallville Season 11 print version arrives.  So put it on your pull list now so it’ll be there for you then.

May 5th (Saturday) is Free Comic Book Day.  Pandora story will be featured in Justice League.  Also some Superman Family Adventures mentioned for this special book.

May 30th is Superman Family Adventures first issue release. Put that on your pull list, too!

June 7th Erica Durance’s (Smallville Lois Lane) Saving Hope will premiere on NBC.

June 7-10 is the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, IL.  So far we know George Perez will be there.  He wrote the premiere story arc for new 52 Superman.  The TPB of that will not be available until November. (Boo, DC, another fail.)  We’re excited about meeting him.

June 12th  Superman vs the Elite will be released on DVD.  Based on Joe Kelly’s Action #775, “What’s so Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?”  Can’t wait!

So come listen on live streaming or live chat room on talkshoe.  Downloads available on iTunes and talkshoe.

Hope to see you there!
